Christmas Archpastoral Letter - December 25, 2018/January 7, 2019

To the beloved clergy, religious, and faithful of the Russian True Orthodox Church Archdiocese of North America–mercy, peace and love be yours in ever-greater measure.

Christ is Born! Glorify Him!

The world in which we live today can often be a dark place. There are many paths through which darkness can enter our lives. For some it is through illness. For some it may be through worries and stress. For others it may be through the darkness of sin that weighs upon us. For many it is a darkness that we cannot even explain.

This time of year, however, reminds us that even in the darkest of days it is still possible for the light to break through and bring a smile to our faces once again.

One only has to venture through the streets of our cities and towns and gaze upon the homes brightly and joyously lit, to be reminded of the light that broke through the darkness and brought new life and new hope to a world that was living in darkness.

As we celebrate the birth of Our Savior this year let us let that light into our hearts. The brightness and beauty doesn’t have to be only on houses or trees or in store windows. It can and should shine brightly within each of us both today and throughout the year.

Whatever the darkness that has entered into our lives this past year, let us throw open the windows of our hearts, souls, and minds and allow the light that shines from above to fill us with warmth and joy.

May the Newborn Savior fill each of your hearts and your homes with light and love, and may it burn brightly within you throughout the New Year.

With the bestowal of my blessing upon all of you, I remain

           Sincerely in Christ,
