TONSURE OF READER GORANKO NASTASIC

PUERTO PLATA, Dominican Republic—Joy filled the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Puerto Plata on Sunday, March 29, as two parish sons joined the ranks of the clergy.
At the beginning of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, Goranko Nastasic was led to Archbishop Nicholas by Deacon Nenad Stojkovic. Standing in front of His Eminence, he received tonsure, was vested in the small phelon, read the epistle, and was vested in the sticharion. In accepting the call to this sacred role, he was not venturing into something new as he had served the parish as cantor and read the epistle there for many years. On that day, however, he chose to formalize that commitment to the church through the official rites of setting aside performed by His Eminence and being enrolled as a member of the clergy. 
Reader Goranko Nastasic born in Belgrade, Serbia on January 19, 1976. Like many other Serbs, he moved to the Dominican Republic. He found his spiritual home at St. Nicholas Church in Puerto Plata through the welcoming leadership of Father Ambrosio Bozzo. He has served the parish for many years as cantor and in various tasks and now takes his place among the ranks of the clergy of the parish.
