VESPERS IN CHEESE-FARE WEEK

      On Wednesday and Friday evening of Cheese-fare Week, everything from the beginning up to O Joyful Light . . . is according to the usual directions for daily vespers.

      After the two prokeimena, with one reading between them, Vouchsafe, O Lord, with three little reverences after it. Then the litany, Let us complete our evening . . .

      After Lord, now lettest thou . . . , the troparion of the saint, Glory . . . Now and . . . and the dismissal theotokion according to the rule. Then the litany, Have mercy on us, O God . . ., and three reverences, but the prayer of Ephraim is not said. Then the prayer:

      O all-holy Trinity, consubstantial might, kingdom undivided, source of all good, be gracious to me, a sinner, establish and give understanding to my heart, and take away from me every defilement. Enlighten my mind, that I may continually glorify, hymn, and worship thee, and say, One is holy, one is Lord, Jesus Christ, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

      Reader: Blessed be the name of the Lord . . ., thrice with reverences, then Psalm 33,  I will bless the Lord at all times. . . until the end. Priest: Wisdom. Choir: Meet is it in truth Priest: Most holy Theotokos, save us, Choir: More honorable than the Cherubim . . . , Priest: Glory to thee, O Christ God, our Hope, glory to thee, Choir: Glory. .. Now and. . . Lord, have mercy. thrice and Bless. And the priest gives the dismissal.
